B-Tec Home Cooking Skills

 

The B-Tec Food & Nutrition course is designed to provide our students with valuable life skills, while fostering creativity in a fun and supportive environment. The course is available in both Level 1 and 2. Both levels focus on building independent and confidence in the kitchen through hands on cooking experiences. This gives the students the opportunity to learn a huge variety of new skills from chopping and mixing, to meal planning and grocery shopping. Each week there is a small amount of theory work that goes alongside the practical tasks. Recipes are reviewed by pupils to evidence both their opinion and review of the recipe. This done alongside referencing the ‘Eat Well Plate’ throughout so that pupils can associate the food ingredients with the correct nutrition groups. The aim is to provide our students with skills that promote self-sufficiency and empower them to make healthy choices with their nutrition.
