This four-year program, designed for students in Years 7 to 11, provides a strong foundation in blacksmithing and metalworking—skills that are highly valued across multiple industries.
Students will gain practical experience and industry-relevant techniques, preparing them for future opportunities in the field. Those who demonstrate strong forge work skills may progress to our City & Guilds Certification in Metalworking, where they can further refine their expertise.

Graduates of a City & Guilds qualification in blacksmithing and metalwork possess a rare blend of traditional forging techniques and modern fabrication skills. - Traditional Blacksmithing: Artist Blacksmith or Farrier, creating bespoke architectural ironwork like gates and railings, or specialising in equine hoof care.
- Fabrication & Welding: MIG/TIG Welder, Sheet Metal Worker, or Structural Fabricator for the construction and manufacturing industries.
- Conservation & Heritage: Restoration Blacksmith or Historic Metalwork Conservator, focusing on the repair and maintenance of heritage sites and antique ironwork.
- Art & Design: Sculptor or Jewellery Maker, using forging and casting techniques to create fine art pieces or high-end decorative accessories.
- Industrial Engineering: Toolmaker, Foundry Operative, or CNC Laser/Plasma Cutter Operator, working with heavy machinery to produce industrial components.
- Specialist Craft: Blade-smith or Armourer, focusing on the niche production of high-quality cutlery, tools, or historical replicas for film and theatre.
